FAQs about MECA

posted Mar 22, 2016, 2:39 PM by Emily Wood

Hello Moretown School Families,

Many people have been asking similar questions about our new MECA (Moretown Education Center for All) program. Moie Moulton has provided some answers to these questions below. We have also been asked if we have available slots for both our pre-school and afterschool program - we have spaces in both programs. If you are considering participating please contact Moie Moulton at 802 522 2520 or email her at Thanks.

Recently Asked Questions About M.E.C.A:

Will there be a drop-in option on days when parents/guardians need to enroll children into the program without advanced notice?

Yes, this is an option, however, there may be a risk that the program will not have space for you child(ren) without advanced notice.

Will snacks be provided?

Yes, snacks are in the M.E.C.A budget and will be offered in the morning and in the afternoon.

Will lunches be provided?

School lunches will be available for all M.E.C.A preschoolers. Each student who would like to have school lunch will have a school lunch account. Children who are eligible can receive free and reduced lunch after filling out the appropriate free and reduced lunch form at central office.

Will M.E.C.A be open for all early release days?

M.E.C.A preschool will be open on early release days. K-6 after school may or may not be open those days, but due to unknown after school numbers at this time we are not currently able to determine whether we will have adequate staffing for longer after school days. We will know and inform all families about our decision in September or October.

Will M.E.C.A be available during vacations?

The M.E.C.A preschool program will be open during the April vacation only.

Do families have to pay for weeks when their children do not attend the program (ex. Holiday and February vacations)?

No, families will only be responsible for paying for days when their children are enrolled in the M.E.C.A program. If your child is enrolled and s(he) is sick, or enrolled and not present you will be responsible for paying for those days as well.

Will M.E.C.A be available during snow days?

No, M.E.C.A will be closed on any WWSU snow days.

There will be a family guidebook sent out to families next week with all of this information and more. Please read through this guidebook and alert me of any other questions you may have regarding the M.E.C.A preschool and after school program. Please also send your enrollment forms as soon as you can so that we can ensure your child(ren) a spot within the M.E.C.A program.
